Ethics & Sustainability
Ethics & sustainability
At Odysseus & Penelope, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s part of who we are.
Our founder, Caitriona Erskine, holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science, majoring in Wildlife and Conservation Biology, and her passion for protecting the planet has shaped every part of O&P. From the very beginning, creating responsibly-made fashion was at the heart of our brand.
What We’re Doing Now
We’re committed to reducing our impact wherever we can, including:
- Locally outsourced production for many of our pieces
- Small, limited drops to reduce overproduction and waste
- Recycled and sustainable fabrics used wherever possible
- Eco-friendly packaging, including compostable mailers
Always Learning & Evolving
We know sustainability is a journey, and we’re always looking for new ways to improve — whether it’s sourcing better materials, reducing waste, or making our supply chain even more transparent.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we’re excited to keep growing — with you by our side.
Supporting local businesses & Talent
A key component to our business is outsourcing work through local creatives. we have collaborated with experienced and talented small Melbourne businesses such as pattern makers / local manufacturers / local artists / and local graphic designers to bring to life some carefully curated designs and collections.
Specifically, I work closely as a founder with my mum, Cheryl Erskine, who is an artist. She is the talent behind some of our iconic prints.
Clothing production facilities
We are proud to work with an ethically accredited manufacturer that prioritises ethical clothing production and provides employment opportunities for refugees, based locally in Melbourne, Australia.
